Your morning record belongs to you. Morning Light stores your logs, preferences, and in-app photos on your device.

This policy covers the Morning Light iPhone app and getmorninglight.com, provided by Blue Hour Labs (“we,” “us”). Questions or privacy requests can be sent to contact@getmorninglight.com.

Information in the app

The app stores the information you choose to record, including morning logs, dates, durations, preferences, reminders, and optional photos. You do not need an account. We do not operate a server that receives your morning journal or photos, and the app does not include third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs.

Permissions you control

• Location: if you allow it, the app uses your location to calculate local sunrise on your device. Stored coordinates are rounded to approximately a kilometre. We do not receive this location or track your movements.
• Camera and photos: if you take a photo in the app, it is processed on your device and location and camera metadata are removed before the app saves it. If you choose to export a photo, a copy may be saved to your photo library or shared with a destination you select. Those copies are subject to your device, iCloud, and destination settings.
• Notifications: if enabled, reminders are scheduled locally on your device. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Features that depend on a permission may not work if you decline it.

Purchases and app updates

Apple processes App Store payments and subscriptions. The app uses Apple’s StoreKit to check purchase status; we do not receive your payment card details. Apple handles purchase and account information under Apple’s privacy policy.

The app is configured to receive software updates through Expo’s update service. Update requests may disclose technical information such as your IP address, platform, app version, and update identifiers to the service. Your morning logs and photos are not included in these requests. See Expo’s privacy policy.

Visiting this website

Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. Requests necessarily include technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time, which Cloudflare may process for delivery, security, and operational purposes. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We do not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or cookies to this website.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use this to answer your request and provide support. Our email provider processes messages on our behalf. Please avoid sending sensitive information or private photos unless needed for your request.

Sharing, retention, and deletion

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Service providers may process the limited information described above to deliver hosting, updates, email, or purchases. We may disclose information we hold when required by law or to protect legal rights and security.

Your in-app records remain on your device until you delete them. Use the app’s data deletion control to remove local records. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to any copies retained in device backups. Exported files, photo-library copies, and device or iCloud backups are controlled separately by you and your device settings. We cannot recover your local journal for you.

We keep support correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, resolve follow-up issues, and meet legal obligations. Infrastructure providers retain technical records according to their own policies and service settings.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, or to object to or restrict its processing. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. We cannot access or delete local app data remotely. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process support information to respond to your requests, operational information for our legitimate interests in providing a secure service, and information needed to comply with legal obligations. Providers may process information outside your country, under their applicable safeguards.

Children and security

Morning Light is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Contact us if you believe a child has sent us personal information. We use reasonable safeguards for information we handle, but no storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its date when our practices change, and provide additional notice where required. Material changes to app data handling will be reflected in the app’s disclosures.
